What is Seis for?

For keeping the commitments you have made about how you want to live. A few times a day, at times you choose, one of them comes up. You note one moment you lived up to it, one you did not, and one small thing you will do about it. When that thing is done, the time is kept.

Where is my book stored?

In the app’s own folder on your phone. Nothing is uploaded, there is no account, and other apps cannot read it. It is included in your iPhone backup like any other app’s data.

How do I get a copy of my book?

Settings › Privacy › Export a copy of the book. The share sheet offers one zip file with every day and your settings; save it to Files, AirDrop it to a Mac, or send it anywhere you like.

How do I lock the book?

Settings › Privacy › Lock with Face ID. The app asks once, after the first time you write. With the lock on, the app locks whenever it goes to the background and asks for Face ID, Touch ID or your passcode when it comes back.

I woke up late and the morning times had passed.

Today shows a “Late start?” card when two or more times have passed with nothing written. Tap “Start at …” and your times begin from now, your usual spacing apart, with the last one by 11:00 PM. Any day can be begun from a chosen time with the ••• button on Today. In the Shortcuts app, the action “Start Today’s Book Now” can run from an automation, for example when your Wake Up alarm is stopped.

What do I write at each time?

Three short lines. The plus: one specific moment when you lived up to the commitment. The minus: one when you fell short. The to-do: one small thing you will do about it, five minutes or less, within the next day or two. A time is written when all three are down, and kept once the to-do is done. Open to-dos wait at the top of Today; tap the ring when one is done, or swipe it to let it go.

Which commitments are in the app?

Ten classic ones are on from the start, such as protecting life and being totally truthful, with twelve more you can switch on. They come up one per time, in order, then around again. A larger set, the Bodhisattva vows, is there for anyone who has taken them, and you can add commitments of your own in Settings › Vows. Tantric vows are not in the app.

How many times a day, and when?

Settings › Times. Six a day is the rhythm the practice was built on; you can set fewer and go up later. Changes apply to the times you have not written yet.

Can I use Seis on two devices?

Not yet. Version 1.0 is for iPhone and keeps the book on that phone only. Syncing through your own iCloud account, with no sign-in, is planned for a later version.

Is there a Spanish version?

Not yet; English first, Spanish next.

Is Seis connected to a teacher or an organization?

No. Seis is made independently by someone who keeps the practice, and is not affiliated with any teacher or organization.
